As Artists aware of our colonial history, we recognise the continued dispossession of the Indigenous people of this Land. We also recognise and support the human rights of the Indigenous people of Palestine to live on their land with dignity — free from military occupation and the brutality of the Israeli Apartheid system.
Joins Us — 242 signatures needed.
As international awareness of Israeli apartheid and oppression continues to mount, it is important that this awareness finds a voice. Artists Against Apartheid is conducting a drive for signatures to showcase support from within artistic communities for Palestinian Human Rights. To reflect the consistent demands for justice from the international community, we aim to get 242 signatures from artists. 242 is the name of the UN Resolution signed after 1967, which sought a just settlement of the catastrophe of Palestinian refugees.
Artists Performing at Israeli Apartheid Week Events
Some of the artists involved in Artists Against Apartheid are joining Students for Justice in Palestine for a music and cultural night during Israeli Apartheid Week, Rhythms of Resistance. Brisbane based singer song writer Phil Monsour is one of the performers and will be proudly featured in an exciting lineup including hip-hop, poetry and spoken word. Held in the Granville community centre main hall on Friday 9 March, it is being described as “underground Sydney meets Palestine”. The event will be a great opportunity to spread awareness and raise money for Gaza through Union Aid Abroad and APHEDA. Today we sent a letter to Melbourne based indie electropop band CUT/COPY, asking them to reconsider their scheduled performance in Tel Aviv, Israel. We hope to hear from them soon. Here is a copy of the letter. Please feel free to sign and re-send it if you like.
